Hammond – John Edward

Born on April 18, 1934. Passed away December 18, 2024.

Passed away peacefully at home aged 90 with family by his side.

Loved and loving Husband of Lorraine for 64 years.

Beloved Father of Craig, Shelley Anne (dec) and Jamie. Father-In-Law of Kerry and Susannah.

Cherished Grandfather of Danielle, Emma and Sophie and Great Grandfather of Brooks and Anna.

John was a very special man, he lived for his family, adored his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

A man who also devoted so much of his time to community and country.  He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam war, local Chiltern councillor, member of Chiltern CFA, Chiltern Waterboard and past Secretary of the Chiltern Cemetery Trust.  Was devoted to helping others through Legacy and probably his favourite, Santa for many years at the Chiltern Christmas Pageant.  A role he reluctantly retired from only this year.

A huge thank you to both Dr Cameron and Helen Barter from the Barnawartha Medical Centre for their care of John in his last few weeks. Because of them John was able to spend his last week’s at home with family.

Also our thanks goes out to the members of the Chiltern community who reached out to John and the family during his short illness, your love and thoughts are cherished.

Will be sadly missed, remembered forever.
